Nancy Lee (Hofer) Bergold passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family and friends, on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, after a 14-month courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 65.
Nancy is survived by son Michael Bergold; son Danny Bergold and daughter-in-law Jenny Bergold; sister Kathy Berry and brother-in-law Dave Berry; 17 nieces and nephews; and hundreds of friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, June and William Hofer; and her husband of 29 years, Theodore Bergold Jr.
Nancy was born in 1948 in New London, Conn. In 1960, after her father retired from the Navy, he moved the family to Napa, where Nancy attended Napa High School and Napa Junior College. While working part time at Churchill Manor as catering staff, she met the love of her life, Ted Bergold. Nancy transferred to Chico State and graduated in 1970 with a degree in social sciences.
In June of that year, she married Ted and moved to Arizona as a military wife. Two years later, they moved back to California where, after a couple of years, they started their family and had two boys, Michael and Daniel. A devoted wife and mother, Nancy loved theater, traveling, holidays, games, her dog (Carly) and cat (Wall-E), hosting parties, and time spent with her many friends. She was a vibrant spirit with a passion for life, a world-class smile and a wonderful laugh.
There will be a celebration of life at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Mount Vernon Church, located at 8201 Greenback Lane in Fair Oaks, Calif.
